2.3 Reasons to not Vote
The above bar graph shows respondents' main reason NOT to vote. The results are as follows:
- The most commonly mentioned reason given to explain why they did not vote was work (17 percent), followed by travelling (16 percent), being too busy (14 percent), lack of political information (10 percent), lack of interest (10 percent), because they forgot (6 percent), because of health issues (6 percent), due to family obligations (6 percent), reasons related to candidates (4 percent), or the meaningless of the vote (4 percent). Other reasons included cynicism (2 percent), lack of information on voting process (2 percent), transportation issues (2 percent), registration problems (2 percent), problems with access to the polls (2 percent), the polling station was far away from their home (2 percent), or reasons related to politicians in general (2 percent).
