2.2 Reasons to Vote
The above bar graph shows respondents' main reason to vote. The results are as follows:
- The most mentioned reason given to explain why they voted was the feeling of duty (39 percent), followed by habit (17 percent), the importance of participating in the political process (11 percent), to support a particular party (7 percent), to support a particular candidate (6 percent), because they could/had the privilege (5 percent), to bring about change (2 percent), or to oppose a particular party (2 percent).
