A voter information card (VIC) may be used as your proof of address

About three weeks before election day, Elections Canada mails personalized VICs to electors to tell them when and where to vote and how to get more information. You can use the VIC as proof of address. However, you also need to show a second piece of accepted ID. Learn more about the accepted ID to vote.

Elections Canada works continually to register more than 27 million electors in the National Register of Electors. That's because the voter registration picture is constantly changing.

As of September 2019, 96.3 percent of all eligible electors were included in the Register, and 93.2 percent of registered electors were listed at their current address.

Checking and updating your registration ensures that you will receive a voter information card delivered to the correct address with all the information you need to know where and when you can vote.
