Current leadership contestants

The Canada Elections Act regulates contributions and expenses for party leadership contestants, who are required to file financial returns for their campaigns.

Leadership contestants continue to be contestants and prominent attendees at regulated fundraising events until they have fulfilled their reporting obligations–even if that happens after the contest has ended.
