Administrative Staff in Local Elections Canada Offices

Before an election, returning officers select their office staff (also known as key staff) but hire staff members only once the election has been called. Office staff handle all the preparations necessary for the smooth conduct of the election and offer registration and special ballot voting services.

Applicants must have the following skills:

  • Ability to read and write
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • Ability to be impartial
  • Ability to serve voters with disabilities
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Basic math and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and standards
  • Ability to learn quickly
It is a condition of employment that employees consent to disclosing to their office supervisor if they experience symptoms of or test positive for COVID-19.
