Legislative Requirements and Administrative Procedures

Canada Elections Act

The Canada Elections Act does not contain official language requirements for the names or logos of political parties.

Elections Canada Registration Procedures

Parties may register their full and short-form names in both French and English, but they are not required to do so.

Each party has a single logo. Party logos do not have to include writing in either official language. Several logos forego language, indicated in the table by "—".

The party leader indicates a preferred official language on the General Form – Political Party (EC 20360). Elections Canada uses this language for official correspondence with the party.
