Reallocation of Paid Time Allocated to a Deregistered Party

Pursuant to subsection 340(1) of the Canada Elections Act, if a registered party to which broadcasting time has been allocated is subsequently deregistered, I am required to convene the representatives of the remaining registered parties and eligible parties to which broadcasting time has been allocated for the purpose of reallocating the deregistered party's broadcasting time.

The Western Block Party was deregistered as of January 31, 2014, which led to a deduction of seven minutes and thirty seconds from the total broadcasting time allocation.

In view of this, on February 10, 2014, I sent a notice to all the parties to convene the parties by conference call in order to discuss the reallocation of the time in question.

In that notice, I proposed to reallocate the seven minutes and thirty seconds by simply adding thirty seconds to the time allocated to the 15 parties receiving the smallest amount of time. Under this proposal, the remaining two parties would be unaffected.

The conference call took place on February 25, 2014. Five parties participated in the call and all of them supported my proposal.

Accordingly, I have adopted the proposal as set forth in the notice of February 10, 2014. The resulting allocation is set out in the appendix to the attached order.
